Parents as Reading Partners (P.A.R.P.)
We will be kicking off P.A.R.P. on Monday, January 30th, with a "Smart as A Cookie" assembly. Throughout the month of February, students will read, read, read and participate in a variety of fun days like Silly Sock Day and School Spirit Day. Don't forget to fill out your weekly coupon to earn a "smart cookie" for the classroom jar.
Spaghetti Dinner Night
Our annual Spaghetti Dinner was held on Thursday, January 26th in the cafeteria. Chef Teta made his famous meatballs and sauce. The Glens Falls Strolling Strings performed for our enjoyment. Thank you to Price Chopper and the LaMountain Family for donating the chocolate chip cookies for our dessert. Also, thank you April McClements and the many volunteers that made the night so wonderful!!
Visitor from Chongqing, China
On Wednesday, January 11th, several Big Cross classes were able to visit with Mr. Xiao Yi, a physical education teacher from the Elementary School attached to Southwest University, Chongqing, China. Mr. Xiao Yi, with the help of interpreter and host Carol Yang, gave a presentation to our third grade students about his city and school. Third grade students study China as part of their Social Studies curriculum.
Mr. Xiao Yi also visited a first grade class during morning meeting time, a kindergarten class to watch the students at center time, and answered questions from a class of second graders. Thank you to Mrs. Yang and Mr. Xiao Yi for visiting with us.

Big Cross Reading Buddies
Each Tuesday, students at Big Cross join together with their Reading Buddies from the First Presbyterian Church in Glens Falls to share books. The students are having a wonderful experience reading with their Buddies. Thank you for spending time with us at Big Cross!
